This blog from Collide Magazine was sent to me and I thought it was worth a read from every creative and artist working in the church. Great stuff…check it out here.

Friday Four

Friday Four

Here are four things I am really excited about…

  • Me and Michelle go in to see our baby via our first ultrasound this Tuesday! Technically I think we can find out if its a boy or a girl but we are going to wait :)
  • Launching a new series this weekend at NLC called “We love because…”. We will be kicking of a new initiative to love our communities as well as making some pretty exciting announcements. Do not miss it! www.nlc.tv
  • This weekend two different couples and close friends from NLC will be getting married! I am so excited for them! I feel like it was just yesterday that it was me and Michelle saying our vows. Can not believe it has been almost seven years!
  • Spring! Enough of this snow already! Warm weather can not come quick enough! Really looking forward to spending some time hiking and camping.

What I’m reading…

What I’m reading…

Picked up a copy of Forgotten God by Francis Chan a few weeks ago and have been slowly picking my way through it. Francis has had a lot of people talking lately when he made the bold move to step away from his very influential church in California to be used by God elsewhere. The book takes an extensive, and most importantly biblical, look at the work of the Holy Spirit in the believers life. Definitely worth the read.

Compassion International

Compassion International

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  -James 1:27

I wanted to take a second and spotlight an incredible opportunity (and I believe responsibility) we have as Christ followers. Compassion International is an incredible organization who is responding to the great commission and bringing hope to children in the most impoverished regions of our world. Through partnership with Compassion me and Michelle have sponsored and built a relationship with a very special boy from Uganda. We have built a special relationship with our sponsored child over the past few years and wanted to invite you to jump in and make a difference as well. Check out www.compassion.com to get involved.

Can’t Stop This-Hammertime

Can’t Stop This-Hammertime

Thought this was pretty funny. For those of you who are familiar with NLC you know we live by the core value “We will do anything short of sin to reach those far from Christ.”. To that end we have always done everything possible to help spread the word about NLC and God’s love. We have done commercials, radio spots, online advertisements, facebook ad’s, mass mailers, and just about anything else you can think of. By far the most successful forms of spreading the word for us have been personal invites and lawn signs. We recently got some attention when we launched our Portland location for the amount of lawn signs we put out. NLC Portland is our first (but won’t be our last) location in Maine. Apparently Maine has laws against yard signs so we have been unable to use that from of spreading the word. So we have gotten creative. To help spread the word and invite people to our “Twas the Night Before Christmas Eve” experience we bought a banner and secured it to some U-Hauls and have been driving it all around Portland and parking it in strategic locations. Whatever it takes NLC! Lets make it difficult for Portland to not know the love of Christ!
